Year 1: September 2001-September 2002:
Begin image collection. Drafts on mapping protocols (Caribbean, Pacific atolls, Great Barrier Reef, New-Caledonia, Maldives). Testing and implementation of first database and processing protocols. Publication on satellite and airborne sensors performance for reef mapping at various scales on various sites.

Year 2: September 2002-September 2003:
Image collection continued. Drafts of mapping protocols (focus on SE Asia, Western Australia, Red Sea, finish Pacific islands, finish Caribbean). Increase in map production.

Year 3: September 2003-September 2004:
Image collection completed (end 2003). Drafts of mapping protocols (focus on Indian Ocean for end 2003). Increase rate and complete map production. First release of products at 10th ICRS meeting in July 2004, Okinawa, Japan.

Ongoing: September 2004 and onward:
Mapping continues prior to final product release at 11th ICRS meeting at Fort Lauderdale (Florida) in July 2008
